Networking groups in Westfield and Greenwood, Indiana: options for young professionals

Westfield young professionals can join the Westfield Chamber's young professional events and H7's weekly Westfield group, and Greenwood has weekly referral breakfasts. Hive Network's Southside colony meets monthly in Greenwood, and its Westfield colony meets monthly in Westfield.

The north and south ends of the Indianapolis metro have different business communities. Westfield is one of the fastest-growing cities in Hamilton County. Greenwood and the Southside anchor Johnson County and south Indianapolis. Both are full of young professionals building real estate, lending, insurance, advising and service businesses. This guide covers options in each.

How do Hive's Southside and Westfield colonies work?

Both follow the same model as every Hive colony:

  • One seat per industry. No competitors in the room.
  • Application only. An application, a personality assessment and an interview.
  • Monthly meetings of about 75 minutes with open networking, 30-second pitches, a report of referrals and coffees, a member highlight and a short masterclass.
  • The wider network. Members connect with the Carmel and Fishers colonies through masterclasses, socials and speaker events.

Cost: $600 a year, or $700 a year paid monthly for 2027.

As of October 2026, Hive had 76 active members, 157 referrals passed and $234,166 in closed business, all logged in the Hive member portal.

Which colony should you choose?

Pick the colony closest to where you do business, at a meeting time you can make every month. Each colony has its own seats, so if your industry is taken in one colony, it may be open in another.

  • Southside (Greenwood): first Monday, 8:00 AM.
  • Carmel: first Tuesday, 7:15 AM.
  • Fishers: first Tuesday, 7:30 AM.
  • Westfield: first Tuesday, 7:30 AM.

Is a weekly group or a monthly group better for you?

Business Breakfast Connections and H7 meet weekly, which builds familiarity fast. Hive meets monthly and expects members to fill the gaps with one-on-one coffees. If your schedule is unpredictable, a monthly meeting you never miss may be worth more than a weekly one you often skip. Which industries refer the most in Hamilton and Johnson counties?

Both ends of the metro have busy housing markets and a lot of small businesses, so the same industries tend to trade referrals: residential real estate, mortgage lending, insurance, financial planning, home services, construction and roofing, auto services, and B2B services like marketing, HR and IT. If you work in one of those, holding the seat for your industry in your local colony puts you first in line when another member hears about a need.

How do you choose between a chamber group and a referral group?

Use both for different jobs:

  • A chamber young professional group helps you get known in your city, meet local leaders and give back.
  • A referral group like Hive gives you a small, committed circle that actively sends you business.

If you only have time for one, choose based on your goal for the next 12 months: community and visibility, or direct referrals.

What does a first visit to a Hive colony look like?

When your guest request is accepted, Hive sends the address and what to expect. Arrive a few minutes early for open networking, which is where most relationships start. During the 30-second pitches, listen for who needs an introduction. During the referral report, you will hear what members have given and received since the last meeting. Bring a clear one-sentence description of who you help, and expect follow-up questions. Afterward, book a one-on-one coffee with anyone whose clients overlap with yours.
